Frequently asked questions
How should I choose between a public course, a private club, or an indoor facility?
Consider access and atmosphere first: private clubs often require membership or guest arrangements, public courses are generally open to all, and indoor facilities are useful when weather limits outdoor play. Also weigh factors like location, hours, available practice areas, and whether you need rental equipment or lessons.
What should I check before booking a tee time?
Verify whether the course requires advance reservations or a membership, check the dress code and any pace-of-play policies, and confirm cancellation or refund terms. It’s also sensible to ask about current course conditions and any temporary restrictions before you go.
How much does it typically cost to play a round or use practice facilities?
Prices vary widely by course type, time of day, and day of the week; private clubs and premier public courses usually cost more than basic municipal courses or a driving range. Always check the course’s website or call for current rates, green fees, and any equipment rental charges.
How was this ranking of Richmond golf courses created?
We used Google review data and applied a Bayesian-style approach that weights each venue’s average rating by its number of reviews, updated for 2026. That method balances high average scores with review volume so consistently well-reviewed places rise to the top.
